Roger explains how to use an Enigma machine. Keith is not listening. The German cipher machine, patented in 1918, kept wartime messages secret until codebreakers cracked it. Your details here need far less cloak and dagger: we only collect what we need, and we never sell it.

We only collect what we need, we're upfront about how we use it, and your details are never sold.
Who we are
Anthony West, trading as The Age Team, is the controller of the personal information described here. For any question about your data, use the form on our Contact page or email hello.theageteam@gmail.com.
The information we hold
- Contact form. If you use the form, we collect your name, email address, the type of enquiry you choose and your message.
- Email. If you write to us directly, we keep your message and email address so we can reply.
- Server information. Our web host records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time of the visit. This keeps the site secure and working.
- Embedded videos. Our pages embed YouTube videos. See Cookies and YouTube below.
- Ko-fi support. If you support us through Ko-fi, Ko-fi and its payment partners take your payment under their own privacy policies. We never see your card details. We may see your name and any message you leave.
There's no need to tell us anything sensitive, such as your health or beliefs, so please leave it out of your message.
How we use it, and why that's allowed
- Replying to your message. Our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us.
- Running and securing the website. Our legitimate interest in a safe, working site.
- Keeping financial records for Ko-fi support and any channel income. Legal obligation.
We don't use your details to build advertising profiles or to make automated decisions about you.
Selling and advertising
Your information is not sold, rented or passed on for marketing. At the moment this site has no analytics, no comments and no mailing list. If we add any of them, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Who handles your information
We pass information only to the services we rely on to run the site, and only what each one needs to do its job:
- our web host, Krystal
- Google, which provides the email account that receives your messages
- the form plugin on our website, WPForms
- Ko-fi, for support payments
We may also have to pass information on where the law requires it or where it is needed to prevent harm. Some of these services process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
Cookies and YouTube
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. Any cookies the site sets are the essential kind, such as those that keep it secure and working.
When you play an embedded YouTube video, YouTube (Google) can set its own cookies and collect information such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy. If you'd rather avoid that, you can simply leave the videos unplayed. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may then not work properly.
How long we hold it
- Contact messages: deleted after kept for up to 12 months after our last message to you, then deleted, unless we're in an ongoing conversation with you.
- Financial records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires, normally six years.
- Server logs: a short period set by our web host.
Keeping it safe
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and the email account that receives your messages is protected with two-step verification. Nothing online is ever completely secure, so we can't offer a guarantee, but we take sensible steps to protect what you send us.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- delete your information
- restrict how we use it, or object to our using it
- transfer it to you or another organisation
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To make a request, use the form or email us. We'll reply within one month, free of charge.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
Our videos are for all ages, but the website itself is written for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has sent us their details, tell us and we'll delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For anything significant, we'll say so clearly here.
